Blind Monitors is a shareware utility, which means that you may to give it freely to your friends. You're also allowed to use it for two weeks. Then, if you find it good enough to continue to use it, you MUST register your copy for only $10 (See below : Registration). Otherwise you are no longer allowed to use Blind Monitors.
Blind Monitors is NOT in the public domain and may not be inserted in any commercial or shareware package (like disks or compact disks) without my written consent.
Introduction
Blind Monitor is a utility that should interest those people who have more than one monitor connected to their computer.
When you haven’t switched on one or more of your screen devices, it’s always annoying (to say the least…) to have you mouse cursor which goes out of the activated screens. And when windows are opened on the alternate screen, it’s always a ‘funny game’ to get them back on the main screen. This is also true when you've moved with your computer without all your screen devices.
Such problems are gone with ‘Blind Monitors’ which allows you to disable logically and, of course, enable screen devices. Changes take only effect after a new startup.
Caution
There is a thing that you MUST keep in mind : if you’ve disabled a screen device with ‘Blind Monitors’, don’t make it the main screen device with the standard Monitor control panel (by moving the menu bar…) because the only things you could do after a startup should be to boot on the floppy disk and to hack the ‘scrn’ resource with ResEdit… or to install a new system software if you're no familiar with ResEdit… This is a biiiiiiiig bug in the system software from Apple Computer.
To be safe, you may launch ‘Blind Monitors’ after you’ve modified the screen configurations with the Monitor control panel because ‘Blind Monitors’ will correct such a situation.
Tip
You may enable a monitor which has been disabled with Blind Monitors without a new startup. To do this, you only need to open the standard Monitor control panel, to modify the pixel depth, to change it back to the original setting if you want and then to close the control panel.
Incompatibility
• No direct incompatibilities have been found between Blind Monitors and other software.
• Think Pascal 4.0 freezes when it tries to open a project when screen devices are logically switched off. This seems to be a problem in Think Pascal itself.
Future versions
•IF there will be enough registrations, i'll develop a true control panel with a little extension which will definitively solve the problem of the 'Caution' section of this text file.
